My big news is that a very dear friend took me to the Bruce Springsteen concert Saturday night; and yes, I was a "virgin" Bruce fan. Always liked his music, but didn't think too much about it. Until this concert. It was life changing. I kid you not.
The lyrics, the passion, the joy, the love. He is a poet for our time. The concert was a revival. Absolutely amazing. I need awhile to process it, but I am so grateful to have had the experience. It has moved me in many ways. I'm thinking and thinking......about many things in my life....and our society, about family and home and friends.
I wonder if I could be a groupie. Or perhaps I already am?
I'm always here! :) I've never seen "the Boss" but I have felt that way about other concerts. There have been two, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac that have actually brought me to tears....
ReplyDeleteoh yes! bruce will definitely do that to a girl. it is like a big old revival. i saw his born in the usa concert when i was in college. he played for three or four hours. my roommate and i were utterly Exhausted. it was so wonderful and we danced our butts off. i remember he came out to do yet another encore and i thought i would cry. i wanted more but i also so wanted to rest. lol!

ReplyDeleteand WOW...I would have loved to have been at that concert....like you, not a huge fan before, but as of late....ohhh, I'm loving him !!!
an old song of his, but one of my new favorites..."it feels like home"...*shit* I think that's the title....
if I don't come back here to correct myself, that's the song title !!
TOTALLY WRONG....although "feels like home" is a great song too....
ReplyDeletethe song I'm thinking about is SECRET GARDEN....oh, how I love that one !!!
Well WOW Mary Beth! What a cool experience for you! We are big Bruce fans...I remember dancing crazily with my husband (before kids)out on our deck for hours...loving his lyrics so much. And then introducing our sons to him before birth by standing next to the HUGE speakers we had while his music blared.
