11/29/14 update - the winner is Jean, who wrote a song which impressed my grandsons.
Thank you everyone for playing along!!!
When Traci Bautista gifted a copy of her book with me I had a feeling it would be fabulous.
Thank you everyone for playing along!!!
When Traci Bautista gifted a copy of her book with me I had a feeling it would be fabulous.
Indeed!
That girl manages to pack more ideas onto each page than you can ever imagine. It is the kind of book where you read and reread every single section because there is simply that much to absorb and because yeah, you want to try it all!!
She sent me a pack of 'stuff' along with the book, so I could get an idea for the types of supplies she uses. Crazy stuff. Like a foam hair roller, pom poms, a square plastic mesh and an orange rubber thingamajig. I have no idea what it is. Turns out I absolutely love it and now use it all the time.
Cause Traci is genius like that.
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Traci's book.
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Traci's book.
Step 1, I worked on my large Gelli Plate, setting up textures. |
Golden Open Acrylics are perfect for Gelli Prints and create beautiful layers. |
Painted papers and painted journal pages. |
My journal spread using some 'parts' that Traci drew (see my initials!). |
Traci's collection along with her book and other supplies. |
I am giving away a copy of Traci's book and a set of markers plus a few of her stencils so one lucky winner will be able to play till their heart's content. To enter, please leave me a comment below - say something really clever and creative. Seriously. I haven't done this for a long time, but I used to let my grandsons pick the winners on my blog contests. And yep, I am going to do it again! Woo hooooo!! You need to enter before midnight CST 11/26/14 because this will be a Thanksgiving Day project.
Be sure and leave me your email too, you know the drill, right?
And.........fyi.....a couple months ago, I did a Webinar using Traci's latest book as my inspiration. Traci appeared as a guest during the live broadcast and we had a lot of fun talking about art and all sorts of things. If you want to check that out, you can click HERE to download the project video. You can also click HERE to see that uber cool package that North Light put together for her book - pssssst, there is a custom stencil.
Last, but certainly not least, check out Traci's stencils with StencilGirl Products HERE. I am fond of all of them but have to admit that Love Collage and Tropical Floral are favorites of mine, I just *love* them.
I would heart this so much! I have so many books, (including yours, wink wink) but don't have Traci's yet! Another reason to pick me: I am so excited to meet you at the workshop with Seth Apter next year in May! Seth posted some save the dates on his blog today and I already emailed him and told him I wanted IN! My first workshop ever with 2 artists I admire greatly, How awesome is that!! This is gonna be the longest winter ever to get thru!

I always had a feeling you were a cool hippie chick and now I know for sure! heehee
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the picture of your journal spread- I said ..mmm this girls a flower child- then when I saw your favorite stencils- bingo! I knew it for sure!
Anyway, I watched and have the download and I go back to it now and again- great webinar!
I would love to win your giveaway and I would also love to see that foam roller! ha- I used to wear them as a kid! heehee
fingers crossed and thanks for the chance Mary Beth! ")

Oh the pressure to write something really clever and creative... I am working on trying to develop more looseness in my style and I think "unleashing" might help with that. That and turning off that critic in my head. Thanks for the generous give away! laneruthe at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteThe common denominator is to have fun and Traci certainly has that ability!

ReplyDelete"Crazy stuff. Like a foam hair roller, pom poms, a square plastic mesh and an orange rubber thingamajig." That's got to mean either Gelli printing or a very strange cheerleading competition! Thanks for sharing.

If its been awhile since you had your grandsons pick a wunner - they must be big, strapping young men by now. It's a good thought that they will still help grannie with her contest.
ReplyDeleteI hope they are treasuring the handmade gifts that grannie has given them through the years and will continue to do so in the future.
I'd love to win this prize. I want to get messy and (hopefully) end up with a work of art. thanks.

ReplyDeleteTraci's book and stencils are great -- and so is her online class that corresponds to that book. I'm taking that class now.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great give-a-way. I took a free course by Traci at the Strathmore paper site and enjoyed it so much. This is a great opportunity for every to enter and have tiny little fingers pick a winner.

ReplyDeleteWithout these tools, the artist stinks
So I’ll enter a comment to win
If I do, it will make me grin!
Love that Traci uses everyday objects as tools. It inspires me to look everywhere for potential mark making tools. Yes, even the kitchen sink! Those scrubber puffs and pads are calling out to be pressed into paint or paste, or used to stamp with. "Unleashed" that's for sure! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMary Beth - I think it would be beyond fab to win this package. I've been drooling over the book and stencils for a while. Her hippie flower girl vibe is right up my alley. It's happy and cheerful yet so creative and boundary pushing. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Stephanie sltresso at hotmail dot com

ReplyDeleteTraci is one amazing artist. I love her work..... I taught my 7 year old grandson how to gelli print. We had a blast. He has a creative streak in him. If I had this book we could really have a lot of fun. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this. darlenebromberger9@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI just love Traci's work!! I have Collage Unleashed and it is so inspiring! It would mean so much to me to win this. I've had to slow way down with mixed media due to having another baby (and a 3rd on the way) and starting a new business that took up less space than mixed media art. But, my heart and Soul are calling me back to it for my own healing. My email is narah (at) me (dot) com (trying to avoid spambots. 😍
ReplyDeleteLove Traci's work so fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteIf i were to win this awesomely rad giveaway, it would unleash the printmaking mojo that i know is currently hiding within...thanks for the chance!

I now have my husband trained to ask BEFORE he throws anything away to see if I want it for my art. He doesn't want to get in "trouble" for discarding something I need! I am always looking for things to make impressions for gelli printing and mostly use "found objects." One of my favorites is a Lunchable container. The print pulled looks like a Metro map. . .very cool. Thanks for the chance to win Traci's book, stencils and the set of markers. What a generous giveaway! Should I be the lucky one your grandson chooses, please email me at bkisrael (at) gmail (dot com).
ReplyDeleteI own the book and love it. Playthings or a list of products you adore appreciated. I love your book which came with a slight learning curve. I did take a few notes or used post its. But Traci's I reread, take notes, and talk to myself. I also periodically use a four letter word, and no I don't mean the color blue.
ReplyDeleteHow do I join your blog? I don't see a way. I got this because we are FB friends.
ReplyDeleteTraci Bautista

I love finding odd items to create texture. One of my favorites is the packaging from some truffles last Christmas. The bottom of the individual plastic wells that held the candy. Now I go out of my way when shopping to find unique textural patterns. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteSomething really clever and creative. ;)
ReplyDeleteI would Love to win this as I am not able to go to workshops anymore as I am disabled and I learn through books, videos, e courses and watching any you tube I can. I love making books and am waiting for Traci's new book to come out so this would be so great to win, thank you for putting it up, Love Light and Laughter, Jude

ReplyDeleteOoh pick me please! I love printing with " junque". I think that orange thingy is part of a sink protector.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway opportunity. Traci has always inspired me by the "tools" she uses for her fabulous art. I really like the collage stencils too. They are like a mish mash of a bunch of those tools to be used all at once! Love them.
