These are the two stamps that I picked; here comes the 2nd 'truth be known'.....I had this plan to make a real piece of art, using these stamps along with a Thermofax from one of my photographs. Homage to beach grass or some such thing. I was really excited about it, you know how that goes, right?
Ahem.
Life intervened, the deadline for this Blog Hop looming, my column for Somerset due, teaching gig on the horizon.....I ended up simply working in my journal.
And here comes the 3rd 'truth be known' statement.....that is about all the art I make these days. Journal pages.
But I digress.
Here is one half of the spread. It probably isn't finished, I tend to go back and back and back to these spreads. The grasses are a very nice edition to the page though and I even like that goofy eggplant color, which basically represents one of just a few stamp pads that I own (plus the Gold I also used).

I had to put grass on the other side too, I have a compulsion for symmetry, don't cha know!?!
This was good ole simple stamping - stamp plus inkpad, then a tad of blotting with my baby wipe. Easy peasy, nice quick result. You gotta love stamps, huh?
Hope you enjoy our Hop today.

ReplyDeleteMary Beth, this page spread is fabulous. I never would have thought to use eggplant as the color for the grasses, but it worked out perfectly!!! You should consider using stamps more often!

ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Stencil Girl Stencils; I love Lost Coast Designs stamps just as much! The detail and variety of their stamps are just incredible! I own several but I'd certainly love to have more!!!
ReplyDeleteAh, I so understand life intervening. I have only used stamp when I took a class with Jodi Ohl, but I find that I like some stamps, especially those of the world, or some with words on them. I don't like them though in that I can't use part of them, as easily.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at journal pages, but I would like to see links to art work that all of you have done, or discussions on it. I guess I feel sometimes like an outcast as I don't do journal pages and all my art is sold, put in juried shows etc.
So many beautiful ideas...the detail in the stamps are amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove the stencils and the stamps!
ReplyDeleteWonderful project!
ReplyDeleteHonestly it's nice to see that life intervenes with the pros too ! Thanks
ReplyDeleteLife sometimes interferes, doesn't it? Enjoyed seeing your pages. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLove all the textures and layers on this art piece! You are right about the purple ink: I like it too. Gorgeous project!!
ReplyDeleteThe takeaway for me: keep the journal going. Life will always intervene, and that's as it should be. Your 2nd and 3rd "Truth be known's"--as inspiring as if you'd shared a finished piece of amazing artwork. Thanks for reminding me to get back to my journal! Who knows where all these life interruptions may lead?!! : )))
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway.I would love to get to play with all of it.
ReplyDeleteUnlike you I do use a lot of rubber stamps but the true background stamps such as the one you chose is superb for making 'noise' but not distracting from whatever else is going on. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThis style is adorable!!
